In the sixth round of the Baltic Top League, the VRA-Tomosta team visited Kaunas. Although the weather was not the best for rugby, the teams showed high-quality and attractive rugby. In a match where almost all the points were scored in the first half, the Vilnius team lost to Kaunas Ąžuolas rugby players with a score of 12:21.

In the first half, the points did not have to wait long. Already at the beginning of the match, the teams exchanged successful realizations. 9 minutes after a defensive error by Vilnius, the Ąžuolas rugby players scored the first goal. Kaunas scored the second goal in the 27th minute, but successful hits from Mantas Butkevičius did not allow the Ąžuolas rugby players to break away and the first half ended with a score of 12:18.

In the second half, both teams fought without points until the end of the match. Although the spectators could see beautiful and effective attacks from both teams, the score on the scoreboard did not change. In the 78th minute, “VRA-Tomosta” made a mistake on its own half of the field, so the Kaunas team took advantage of this and scored a conversion shot. The rugby players of “Vilnius Rugby Academy” did not have enough time to change the match result and the match ended with the score 12:21.

The best player of the match for “VRA-Tomosta” was Mantas Butkevičius.

The best defender of “Gralla Premium” was Aurimas Streckis.

"It's a pity that we were unable to maintain discipline in the match. If we still maintained it on our side, it was very lacking on the opponent's side. We could have scored points after open fights or after breakthroughs, but we made a lot of mistakes. We could have still won a bonus point, but with a few minutes left we fouled and the opponent scored 3 more points. We won't change anything, the men fought and had a chance to win. Now we have to prepare for the derby match and correct our mistakes," commented the team's head coach Vidmantas Valys.

The next match will be held on September 24th at 2:00 PM in Vilnius against the “Iron Wolf” team. We invite fans to come to the Verkių School – Multifunctional Center rugby stadium (Verkių g. 62) and support the “VRA-Tomosta” men!
