Vilnius Rugby Academy successfully completed the 2026 Lithuanian Men’s Rugby-7 Championship II Division season. After two rounds, the capital city team finished first in the overall standings and became the winner of the II Division.

This season, Vilnius Rugby Academy proved its strength consistently — the team won both the first and the second round of the championship. In both stages, the Vilnius side collected maximum points, demonstrating stable performance, fast attacking play, and disciplined defence.

The second round of the championship took place on 9 May in Šiauliai. Vilnius Rugby Academy won all three matches there and once again confirmed its leadership in the II Division.

In the second match, the capital city team played against Šiauliai “Baltrex Dubleriai”. Vilnius Rugby Academy started the match especially strongly and led 19:0 after the first half. Although the opponents managed to reduce the deficit in the second half, the Vilnius team maintained control of the game and claimed another victory — 29:12.

In the third match, Vilnius Rugby Academy met Vilnius “Geležinis Vilkas”. The academy team once again demonstrated confident play, disciplined defence, and quick transitions into attack. Vilnius Rugby Academy won the match 31:5 and finished the second round with three wins from three matches.

In the second round alone, Vilnius Rugby Academy scored 100 points across three matches, while allowing their opponents to score only 29. This point difference of +71 clearly reflects the team’s dominance in this stage.

Individually, Domantas Alenskas stood out in this round, scoring 16 points and being named the best Vilnius Rugby Academy player of the second round. The top scorer of the second round was Julius Melnikas, who collected 33 points.

Julius Melnikas was not only the top scorer of this round, but also of the entire 2026 Lithuanian Men’s Rugby-7 Championship II Division — scoring a total of 74 points throughout the championship. This became one of the strongest individual achievements of Vilnius Rugby Academy’s season.

Another important recognition went to Alvidas Pritulskis, who was named the best player of the entire II Division championship. This award further highlights not only the team’s overall results, but also the strong individual contribution of its players to the final victory.

In the overall standings, Vilnius Rugby Academy collected 32 points after two rounds — 16 points in each round. The closest competitors finished with 24 points, meaning the Vilnius team completed the II Division championship confidently in first place.
