On June 21st, a Baltic Rugby Championship match took place at Vilnius Rugby Academy’s home stadium in Vingis Park, where the hosts faced Latvian club “Fēnikss.” In front of the home crowd, the Vilnius team delivered a confident performance and secured an impressive 53:12 victory.

From the very start of the match, Vilnius Rugby Academy controlled the tempo and dictated play on the field. Quick ball movement, smart decision-making, and efficient attacking allowed the hosts to build a solid lead that the Latvian team was unable to overcome.

The team made the most of their scoring opportunities while maintaining a disciplined and focused defense. This ensured control throughout the entire match and led to a well-deserved win.

A standout performance came from Vilnius Rugby Academy player Mantas Stelionis, who was named the man of the match. His contribution, especially in defense, was crucial to securing the victory.

The match was played in extremely hot conditions – around 30°C – which meant that players had to battle not only their opponents but also the physical challenge of the heat. Despite this, both teams showed determination and fighting spirit until the final whistle.

After the match, Vilnius Rugby Academy players cooled off in the nearby river – a perfect way to recover after an intense game.

Following the final whistle, both teams gathered in a friendly atmosphere for the traditional “third half,” where players shared their impressions and discussed key moments from the match.

Vilnius Rugby Academy will return to action on August 8th, when they travel to Klaipėda to face rugby club “Kuršiai.”
