Lithuanian children's and youth rugby championships returned in September

As every year, in September, children and young people return not only to school after the summer holidays, but also to the rugby fields. The season continues with the students of the Vilnius Rugby Academy. The academy members participated in championships in Lithuania and Latvia in September.
On September 17, the Vilnius Rugby Academy U10 and U12 teams left for Latvia. In Latvia, the “VRA” U12 team was invincible and defeated all its rivals. Having defeated the RK “Kovas” rugby players in the final with a score of 45-5, the Vilnius team raised the winners' cup and rejoiced at the successful start of the season. The “VRA” U10 team fared somewhat worse, taking 4th place. Although the Vilnius team defeated only one team, they clung to victory in every competition and showed character. The coaches did not spare good words for the young rugby players and saw only positive sides. Adomas Orlov was recognized as the best player in the “VRA” U12 team, and Žygimantas Dainauskas was recognized as the best in the U10 team. Barbora Stiebytė and Aleksas Orlov were recognized as the most advanced. And the youngest player of the tournament was Ąžuolas Orlov.
Rugby did not end that weekend and on September 18. The 2022 Lithuanian Rugby Federation Youth A B. 2009-2010 Rugby Championship, IV – round, took place in Vilnius. Nine teams were divided into three groups of 3 teams each. Our team played in group B with Jurbarkas “Sporto centras” and Šiauliai “Akademija-Baltrex” teams. We played the first match with Jurbarkas “Sporto centras” team, we lost the match 5-15. We played the second match with Šiauliai “Akademija-Baltrex” team, we won the match 0-35. We took third place in the group and remained to play for 7-9 places with RK “Klaipėdos kovas” and Šilutė “Titanas” teams. We played the third match with RK “Klaipėdos kovas” team, we won the match 15-5. In the fourth match, we met with the Šilutė "Titanas" team, we won the match 20-15. Erika Krukovskytė was recognized as the best player of the "VRA" team.
The same stadium also hosted the 2022 Lithuanian Rugby Federation Youth B Championship. 2011-2012 Rugby Championship, IV – round, in which as many as 14 teams participated! Our youth B team played in group C with the Marijampolė “Sporto centras” and Jurbarkas “Sporto centras” teams. We played for 9-14 places, because there was only one stadium and the championship matches had to be compressed, so the teams were distributed according to their capabilities. The strongest teams played for 1-8 places, and the weaker ones for 9-14 places. We played the first match with the Marijampolė “Sporto centras” team, we won the match 10-40. We played the second match with the Jurbarkas “Sporto centras” team, we won the match 25-15. We took first place in the group and played with the second place winners of group D. After that, the semi-finals took place for 9-12 places. The third, semi-final match we played against Šiauliai “Rėkyvos progimnazija” team, we won the match 15-20. Final for 9-10 places. The fourth, final match we met again with Jurbarkas “Sporto centras” team, we won the match 35-15. The best player of the “VRA” team is Dominykas Petrauskas.
A week later, on September 24, the Lithuanian Rugby Federation Youth A and B V round took place in Kaunas. Not everything went well for the “VRA” youth A team, who did not find their victory that day. The Vilnius team lost to Jurbarkas “Sporto centras”, “Akademija Vairas”, Šilutė “Titanas” and Plungė “SRC-Drobe”. Motiejus Ragauskas was recognized as the best player in the “VRA” team.
The youth B team did a little better. Our youth B team played in group B with RK “Klaipėdos kovas-1”, Šiauliai “Akademija-Baltrex” and Vilnius “Sostinės tauras-Geležinis vilkas”. The first match with RK “Klaipėdos kovas-1” was very tenacious and at the end of the match, the Klaipėda team managed to score points and the match ended 20-15. The second match was held with our neighbors from Vilnius, Vilnius “Sostinės tauras-Geležinis vilkas” and in that match the academics showed that we can play with all opponents, the match was lost by a minimum margin of 15-5. The third match was lost by a small margin of 20 -10 to Šiauliai “Akademija-Baltrex”. The fourth match was played with the Šiauliai “Šiauliai” team and again in the end we had to lose with a score of 25-20. The last match was played with Jurbarkas “Sporto centras” and again like a curse we lost with a score of 25-20 at the very end. The young “VRA” rugby players took 8th place in the tournament. Adrijus Žepnickas was recognized as the best player.
