The “VRA-Tomosta” rugby players have already proven that they can compete with all the teams in the league. Although the unsuccessful start of the season complicates the team’s chances of getting into the top 4 of the “Baltic Top League”, the improving quality of the game makes us optimistic about the rest of the season.

At the beginning of the second half, the teams exchanged precise free kicks and the score increased to 25-21 in favor of “VRA-Tomosta”. And from the 70th minute onwards, only the “Vilnius Rugby Academy” rugby players scored points. The Frenchman Gaspard Bidegain, who has perfectly fit into the “VRA-Tomosta” team, also scored his own penalties. And in the 77th minute, after a great attack, Aurimas Streckis also scored a goal, Mantas added 2 more points by hitting a conversion shot. At the very end of the match, the guests from Latvia received a penalty, so Mantas Butkevičius, taking advantage of it, scored another 3 points for the Vilnius team. The referee announced the end of the match and the “VRA-Tomosta” rugby players celebrated the victory with a score of 40-21.

The best player of the match in the “VRA-Tomosta” team – Mantas Butkevičius.

The best defender of “Gralla Premium” – Dato Dudkovi.

After the match, head coach Vidmantas Valys did not hide his joy – “We won this match and the game is definitely improving, but there are still mistakes. We will now have to fix them during training. We have to patch up the gaps in defense and work on the overall tactical game. I thank the players of my team for their fighting spirit and desire to win against the multiple champions of Latvia. I want to thank the volunteers, administration and fans who supported and helped prepare for the match and the third half.”

During the break in the match, the prize established by our friends “Puškus Puškus” – a beanbag – was lost.

Congratulations to Denis Aleksjevs on winning this prize and we hope to see him at the stadium more often!

The next match will be played on September 11 (Sunday), at 2:00 PM in Kaunas against the “Ažuolas” team. This will be the sixth match in the “Baltic Top League” championship.
