On December 20, a Christmas Rugby tournament took place in Vilnius, jointly organized by Vilnius Rugby Academy and RK “Vilnius”. Young rugby players from Vilnius, Kaunas, and Kalvarija met in a friendly tournament – a great way to actively wrap up the year and come together on the field once more before the holidays.
The children competed in TAG rugby, showing the skills they had developed throughout the season, while for the older players it was a special experience – they tried contact rugby for the first time. The field was full of movement, laughter, and genuine enthusiasm to play, and throughout the matches the air was filled with team chants, encouraging shouts, and applause.
After the games, we could confidently “send” the kids off to their holidays – well exercised, energized, and ready to enjoy winter break and sweet Christmas treats. We are proud of our young rugby players, their effort, courage, and desire to improve.
After the sports part, everyone was in for a surprise – Santa Claus himself visited the tournament, not only awarding both children and parents, but also inviting the parents to take part in a fun TAG rugby match of their own. There was no shortage of laughter, emotions, and good vibes – the field belonged not only to the kids, but to the parents as well.
A great sporting day, good mood, and a strong sense of togetherness – the perfect combination before holiday feasts and festive tables. Thank you to all participants, parents, volunteers and coaches for your involvement and support. Events like this once again show that rugby is not just a sport, but a community.
