Playing on their home ground, the Klaipėda RK Kuršiai team demonstrated strong defence and sharp attacks from the very beginning. The first quarter ended 3-15 in favour of the home team - VRA was unable to break through the Kuršiai defence, but the Vilnius team fought until the last minute.
In the second period Vilnius Rugby Academy did not give up and managed to take the initiative, fighting for every point. The commitment of the players brought the score closer to a draw. The match ended with a very small margin - 20-22 in favour of Klaipėda RK Kuršiai. Although VRA was a few points short of victory, the team's performance left a strong impression on both the fans and the opponents.
During the match, VRA coach Giorgi Chubinidze received special praise as the best player of the match. Giorgi not only led the team exceptionally well but also showcased an outstanding performance on the field, playing in the number 10 position.
After the match, as usual in the world of rugby, there was the so-called "third quarter", the unofficial part of the competition when the teams meet in a friendly environment and this rugby tradition strengthens the bond between the players and reminds them that, regardless of the struggle on the pitch, everyone is part of a community, where respect and friendship are key.
After the third quarter the Vilnius Rugby Academy team left for Šventoji, where they stayed in cosy seaside houses. The team members continued the day's experiences, playing various team games that helped to further strengthen their bond. This evening allowed the team to relax after the intense competition and continue to build team spirit, which is crucial for the challenges ahead.
Despite this result, the Vilnius Rugby Academy team is ready to continue to improve and strive for victories in other competitions. The Baltic Rugby Championship is not over yet and the team is determined to correct its mistakes and strengthen its game both on and off the field.
Moments like these remind us that rugby is not only a sport, but also a community united by passion, friendship and mutual respect.
The next match will take place on 22 September in Šiauliai, Lieporių g. 2, where we will meet the Šiauliai team Baltrex Dubleriai in the semi-finals.
